Accommodations

Lake Mateos

Lake Mateos Bass Lodge overlooks the beautiful Humaya River.  The lodge accommodates 20 guests in air conditioned rooms that were renovated in 2008.  Each room has a private bath, hot and cold running water, and daily maid service.  The accommodations are relaxing and comfortable.  Packages are based on double occupancy.  We provide bottled water in your room, while fishing, with meals, etc.  We always have a plentiful supply.  We urge you to drink plenty of water during your stay.  We suggest you use the bottled water in your room for brushing your teeth.  However, our lodge water is chlorinated to provide you with the same water quality as your city water back home.  No converters are needed for electricity usage.  There are no phones or televisions in the guest rooms.  However, there is a television in lobby area.  Cell phone reception is very limited.  The camp does have internet access and there is a charge to use the internet.

Food
It’s as good as it gets in any remote Mexican fish camp.  We serve three meals per day in our recently built open-air pavilion overlooking the river.  During your stay we’ll serve steak, fish, shrimp, barbecued chicken and Mexican specialties, plus pre-meal nachos each evening.  Water, soda, beer and margaritas are ample and complimentary.

Laundry Services
Members of our staff can do a small amount of laundry for you at no charge although a gratuity for this is expected.

Safety
Our clients can feel very safe at the lodge.  Our staff is vigilant on 24/7 and we have a security watchman.  We have not experienced safety or theft issues at Lake Mateos.  That said, we do not recommend bringing valuables or more cash than necessary for your trip.

Packing Suggestions
Please resist the tendency to over pack.  Fishing partners may coordinate packing of some items to avoid unnecessary duplication.  For the items in your carry-on bag, it is recommended you include fishing reels and medications, as well as a single change of clothing.  DO NOT carry on lures, scissors, hooks or knives.  We recommend durable, water-resistant, lockable, top-zipper duffel for your checked luggage.  Try and fit everything in a single checked duffel bag in addition to a rod tube and carry on bag.  Remember, we have good quality All Star & Pflueger rods for your use, free of charge.
